Solar Pool Heating

Central Florida Solar Pool Heaters and Swimming Pool Heaters PanelEverything 4 Pools and Solar is a Central Florida dealer for FAFCO solar Pool Heaters, the clear solar pool heating industry leaders for 40 years, with more than two dozen United States patents. We are licensed and FAFCO factory authorized solar pool heater contractors and we service, repair and replace all major brands throughout Central Florida. FAFCO has manufactured and sold more swimming pool solar collectors and solar pool heating systems than all other companies in the solar industry combined.

FAFCO panels are made of a special polyolefin plastic, which includes chemicals to protect the panels for decades against the sun’s harmful UV rays. Each FAFCO panel model has circular flow channels connected in parallel to a patented flow distribution header manifold. The panels are impervious to wind and weather and will not react with pool chemicals. FAFCO solar pool heating collectors come in three standard sizes: 4×8, 4×10 and 4×12 and can be special ordered for custom applications in other lengths. We always try to use the largest panel size that will fit on the available roof area or other surface in order to minimize mounting hardware.

How the FAFCO solar pool heater works

Central Florida Solar Pool Heaters and Swimming Pool Heaters DiagramThe FAFCO solar pool heating system is completely trouble-free. It detects when heat is needed in the pool to meet your desired water temperature and—assuming heat is available—water is diverted from the pool return line up to the roof and through the solar collectors.

1. Set your desired water temperature and a sensor determines the most efficient run time.

2. Your pool pump sends cold water from the pool through the solar collectors.

3. FAFCO’s polymer solar collectors heat the water as it is channeled through the collector array.

4. Luxuriously warm, solar heated water flows back into your pool

That’s all there is to it. Typically sized systems generally double the comfortable swim season of an unheated pool. Call us to determine the specific performance you might expect and to have us review your available roof or other mounting area. You’ll be glad you did.

If you are wondering how much extra it costs to operate your solar pool heating system, the answer is virtually nothing. Your pool pump may run slightly more or less during the daylight hours to send water through the solar collectors, but the cost difference is usually insignificant and there is no extra strain on the pump to push water through the solar collectors. The pressure is relieved by water falling down the return line after the collectors.

Why solar heat your pool?

Solar pool heating is by far the most cost-effective way to heat your pool. The sun’s energy is clean, free and inexhaustible. And plentiful in Florida on a year-round basis. While solar does not have the ability to deliver any temperature on demand in any weather, you will never have to turn your solar pool heater off because you can no longer afford its operating cost. A solar pool heating system can double your comfortable swim season in a warm pool.

Solar pool heating is a very mature technology; thousands of solar pool heaters have delivered trouble-free operation in Florida since the late 1970s. Unlike a propane or natural gas pool heater with metal parts, a quality solar pool heater will keep you swimming in a warm, comfortable pool for the next 20 to 30 years.

All solar heating systems work on the same principle as a garden hose sitting out in the sun. The sun strikes the hose and the water inside is heated. Because the water temperatures required for swimming pool heating are relatively low, inexpensive but durable polypropelene plastic solar panels can be used for pool heating. However, because a swimming pool holds several thousand gallons of water, small temperature changes require large amounts of energy. So solar pool heating usually requires a large solar collector area: typically 50–80 percent of the swimming pool surface area.

Solar pool heating is best for those pool owners seeking the most environmentally friendly heating solution. If you are interested in going “clean and green,” solar is the way to go.
